The Brazilian Mastiff, better known as the Fila Brasileiro in Brazil, is a fearless & loyal natural guardian of family and property. Filas are strong intelligent noble dogs. Filas are naturally distrustful of strangers and should be socialized with as many people and situations as possible at an early age. This will give your dog the confidence and socialization he needs to make the right decisions in stressfull situations. Being that they are a large protective breed, Filas are best suited to country living Or a secured back yard. Filas are excellent Hunting dogs with a high prey drive. They are used for hunting Jaguar and Boar in Brazil and Wolf and Bear in Montana and Russia. Filas are used for hearding cattle in Brazil and as Police dogs in France. Filas are excellent with Children they have been raised with. Filas are also excellent with pets. Our Filas are raised in our home in a loving atmosphere, being played with and touched daily by our children, my wife and myself.

Filas are not for everyone. Filas have a fine short coat and must live in the house in the winter. They are the least tampered with and longest lived of the Mastiff breeds. They are tiger like in quickness and agility. They are on the spot protection and they let you know at a very young age they dislike a stranger's touch. This is not a dog you can just put in the back yard and forget about. They are a devoted family dog that is fearless in defense of their family. A Fila is a true guardian.
